Year 11 students at The King Alfred School are celebrating a huge rise in the top grades with an increase of over 6% in A*/As and Distinction/Distinctions*. This, coupled with a headline figure of 76% with 5 or more GCSE grades at A*-C means that the school has achieved its highest ever points scores. The figure for 5 or more GCSE grades at A*-C including English and Maths is 50%. Four students, Alex Aylward, David Jarvis, Robyn Marsh and Cleo Stead scored A*/As and/or Distinction/Distinction* in all of their subjects, a tremendous achievement. In addition, Tom Bugden (7A*/As and a Distinction), Alannah Frost (9 A*/As and a Distinction), Jessica Greg (9A*/As), Jessica Simpson (7A*/As), Robbie Hughes (7A*/As and a Distinction), Stjohn Peters (6A*/As and a Distinction), Ben Robertson (8A*/As), Rebecca Scott (8A*/As and a Distinction), Naomi Plummer (3A*/As) and Jack Sergison (3A*/As and a Distinction*) also achieved fantastic results. As well as paying tribute to the hard work of students, staff and parents headteacher, Andy Owen also recognised the important role of the local primary schools “We are delighted that once again our students have achieved excellent results across the full range of abilities. I would like to congratulate all those involved in their success; the parents, the staff of King Alfred School and our local partner primary schools who play such an important role in the education of our young people”. Andy further commented that with the record number of students staying on into the VIth Form at King Alfred’s, with the vast majority of the GCSE performance indicators above target and with the best ever A level results last week that the school is moving from strength to strength.
